Do you want to know how we evaluate your nose?
When a patient comes in for a rhinoplasty consult, we first look at the whole face. From the front, the nose should only be 1/3 of the length. If it is more than 1/3 of both the upper and lower portion, then your nose may be too long. However, if the upper third (forehead) and the middle third(nose) are equal and the lower third is short then your chin is too small.
We then evaluate the profile. If the chin does not project to the level of the base of your nose, then you have a weak chin. If the chin is at this level, then you nose is too long.
Why is this important?
If your chin is too small, a larger chin will make your nose look smaller. If you make you nose smaller with a weak chin, then the nose will still look small. It is all about balance.
